The Federal Government has reacted to the coup d’etat, which occured on Sunday in West African Country, Republic of Guinea.
A statement issued by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esther Sunsuwa condemned the move by the military, stating it violates ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance.
The statement revealed that soldiers took over the country by suspending the current constitution and reportedly detaining President Alpha Conde.
It condemns and rejects any unconstitutional change of government and therefore calls on those behind the coup to restore constitutional order without delay and protect lives and property.
