The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, says it does not award preferential cut-off marks to students who sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, from the Northern part of the country.
JAMB’s Head of Information and Media, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this while reacting to Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s comment that students in the North should not be given low cut-off marks.
Benjamin noted that JAMB had not been setting the minimum scores for schools since its inception in 1978, adding that the Board is only saddled with the responsibility of conducting matriculation examinations for entry into all universities, polytechnics and colleges of education in the country.
