Ondo State Government says it has commenced the collection of consumption tax from residents of the state in a bid to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the state.
The Executive Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Tolu Adegbie, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Akure, the state capital.
Adegbie noted that that the consumption tax which is different from Value Added Tax, was passed by the state House of Assembly and signed into law in 2019, but the implementation of the law was suspended in 2020 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 that hit the economy of the country.
He added that the consumption tax is for hotels and restaurants.
