Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has said he supports the decision by the Rivers and Lagos State Government to collect Value Added Tax, VAT, in their states instead of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS.
Ortom revealed that he would wait for the decision of the court before the state takes a position as he believes in the rule of law.
The Governor, however, noted that the decision would have an impact on the state, but that they would have to come up with alternative solutions and work hard to secure revenue.
Recall that both Lagos and Rivers states are before the Appeal and Supreme Court, seeking to take over the collection of VAT from FIRS.
