The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has denied insinuations that it asked Corps Members travelling on high risk roads to alert their families in order to have someone to pay ransom in event of being kidnapped.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the Scheme, Adenike Adeyemi, and made available to newsmen today.
The statement appealed to the general public to always clarify issues with the NYSC, stressing that even though the NYSC did not deny the controversial provision in the Corper’s Handbook, the provision does not exist in its security tips pamphlet.
It assured that the Corps will continue to prioritize the security and welfare of Corps Members and staff at all times.
