The National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, says the spate of insecurity across the country can be attributed to the absence of local government system in states.
National President of the union, Olatunji Ambali, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Ambali maintained that the call for the autonomy of local government system will help the country overcome most of its challenges.
The President called for an end to the practice of funding the local governments through state governments, adding that the function of the local governments had been taken over by the state governments which had been slowing down the development of the grassroots.
