A senior United States diplomat has urged North Korea to end its counterproductive missile tests and resume negotiations.
The US official on North Korea affairs, Sung Kim, said this on Sunday after meeting with South Korean officials to discuss North Korea’s recent streak of missile tests, including its first underwater ballistic missile launch in two years.
Kim called on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, DPRK, to cease these provocations and other destabilizing activities and engage in dialogue.
The tests come amid a long-running impasse in nuclear diplomacy between Washington and Pyongyang.
Recall that on Tuesday, North Korea fired a newly developed ballistic missile from a submarine in its fifth round of weapons tests.
