The Senate says it is considering two critical bills seeking to facilitate the speedy prosecution of money launderers and terrorist financiers in Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Senate President on Press, Ezrel Tabiowo.
The statement disclosed that the bills when passed into law would provide the needed framework for the prosecution of public servants with unexplained wealth.
It added that the bill seeks to make provisions for a comprehensive and effective anti-money laundering legislation, taking into consideration the changing patterns and techniques now being employed by money launderers.
Both bills which scaled second reading during plenary were sponsored by Suleiman Umar (APC, Kwara North) and Suleiman Kwari (APC, Kaduna North).
