Sudan’s Army Chief Abdel al-Burhan, has appointed a new governing Sovereign Council.
Al-Burhan would remain the head of the council, while Mohamed Dagalo, the leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces would keep his post as deputy.
Sudan’s ousted Information Minister Hamza Balloul said the announcement was an extension of the coup and that he was confident the Sudanese people could defeat it.
Anti-coup protesters in the east of Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, have blocked roads and burnt tyres.
