Philippines President, Rodrigo Duterte has announced plans to run for Senate in next year’s election.
Duterte’s closest aide, Christopher Go, revealed that the President will vie for a Senate seat in the May 2022 polls.
The announcement comes as Monday’s deadline neared for political parties to finalize candidates.
Go’s remarks run counter to those on Saturday by Duterte’s communications chief, who said the president would run for vice president and challenge his daughter, Sara Duterte-Carpio.
