The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Tanko Muhammad says it is difficult for the judiciary to be impartial when it remains financially tied to the executive.
Tanko made this known at the 2021 biannual All Nigeria Judges Conference for courts of superior records, held in Abuja.
He said that financial independence desirable to allow the judiciary effectively discharge its mandates is not available.
The Chief Justice harped on the need for financial autonomy upon which the impartiality of the judiciary is anchored.
