Electricity Consumers not Required to Pay for Meters Under NMMP

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, says electricity consumers are not required to pay directly for the meters issued to them.

This was contained in a statement issued by NERC in Abuja on Monday.

The statement noted that the National Mass Metering Programme is designed to provide all consumers of electricity with meters as a policy intervention of the Federal Government.

It added that the regulatory framework approved by the commission provides for refund of the cost of meter through energy credits to the customer at the time of vending.
