Imo State House of Assembly has moved against drug abuse in the state, describing it as an impediment to the development of the state.
The move was made during the resumption of the plenary session under Speaker Kennedy Ibeh after a motion was presented by a member representing Ideato North Constituency, Innocent Egwim to curb the menace of drugs consumption among youths in the state.
Egwim said the hard drug intake poses a threat in the state, stressing that after consumption youths carry out immoral behaviors in the society.
The House, however, agreed during a vote to urge the State Governor, Hope Uzodimma to reconstitute a State committee that will work in tandem with NDLEA and establish State rehabilitation centres.
