Sri Lanka’s parliament has convened a special committee to investigate dozens of unexplained cooking gas explosions and fires in kitchens around the country.
Consumer Affairs Minister, Lasantha Alagiyawanna disclosed to the parliament that an average of 10 explosions was being reported daily.
Following police and media reports of at least 14 explosions in a single day, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Tuesday appointed an eight-member committee to investigate and provide a report within two weeks.
