NULGE Calls for Review of the Constitution

The National Association of Local Government Employees, NULGE, has called for a complete overhaul of the country’s constitution in favor of the local governments.

Ogun State NULGE President, Ayuba Olatunde, who revealed this at a press briefing to mark the association’s week, noted that the challenges facing the country could be tackled through local government autonomy.

He called on the National Assembly and the state Houses of Assembly to accelerate action on the recent debate to grant local government autonomy.

The President charged state governments to respect and adhere strictly to the constitutional provisions on local governments pending the granting of autonomy.
