Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello has said the ongoing screening exercise of pensioners in the state is meant to cleanse the system from pension scams and other financial irregularities.
Speaking to newsmen after monitoring the exercise in Minna, the state capital, Bello said the exercise is to sanitize the system and ensure pensioners are not shortchanged.
He called on pensioners across the local governments of the state to be patient with the exercise as he is optimistic, it will achieve the desired objectives.
The Governor, however, directed the Screening Committee to pay those that have already been cleared, while the pensioners who are sick or very weak should be followed to their houses to get them screened.
