The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, has reiterated the agency’s determination towards strengthening partnership with the police in fighting maritime crimes.
Director General of the Agency, Bashir Jamoh, gave the assurance at a meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, in Abuja.
He assured that NIMASA would support the marine police in areas of training, retraining, supply of kits, and other necessary gadgets to enhance their patrol around creeks, quarry site, and harbors.
The Director General noted that there had been a reduction in piracy attacks in the blue waters, as confirmed by notable international bodies, including the International Maritime Organization, IMO, and International Maritime Bureau, IMB.
