Cholera has claimed five lives in Ofoni community of Sagbama Local Government Area in Bayelsa State.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Health, Pabara Newton-Igwele, at the end of the State Executive Council meeting in Government House, Yenagoa.
According to the Commissioner, the five victims were among 22 recorded cases of the cholera epidemic in the state.
He said government had dispatched a Rapid Response Team to Ofoni to curb the water-borne disease before it spreads to other communities.
