Edo Plans Orphanage Monitoring Panel

Edo State Government has announced plans to set up a committee to monitor and audit orphanages in the state.

The Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Issues, Maria Edeko, who stated this on Monday, said the committee would formulate holistic policies on the management of orphanages and adoption, in line with the state’s Child Rights Law.

Edeko disclosed that the government vows to clampdown and prosecute those operating as businesses as against their designation as charities.
