The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, NPHCDA, has announced that Nigeria has reported 395 cases of the Circulating Mutant Poliovirus Type 2 across 27 states.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Agency’s executive director, Faisal Shuaib.
The statement noted that the suspension of immunization programmes due to the COVID-19 pandemic has created new immunity gaps which have led to new outbreaks.
It added that the Agency is working with donors and Development Partners, noting that Nigeria has already acquired new tools and resources to ensure the outbreaks are contained.
