Enugu State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says the Agency has arrested 144 suspects for various drug-related offences in 2021.
The State commander of NDLEA, Anietie Bassey, who disclosed this during a press briefing in Enugu, the state capital, stated that out of the number, 50 drug dealers were convicted within the year under review.
Bassey added that the drug demand reduction unit of the agency, which constantly engaged in several sensitization programmes, also admitted 40 drug abusers, out of which 29 have been rehabilitated and discharged.
The Commander expressed worry over the spread of clandestine laboratories in the South East, where the deadly ‘mkpuru-mmiri’, is produced.
