The new United States African Envoy, David Satterfield, and Assistant Secretary Molly Phee will visit Sudan and Ethiopia next week.
A statement issued by the State Department said Satterfield and Phee will meet with Sudanese pro-democracy activists, women and youth groups, civil organizations, military and political figures.
The statement noted that in Ethiopia, the pair will talk with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to seek a resolution to the deepening civil war.
It added that they will meet a group calling for the restoration of the country’s transitional government.
