The Akwa Ibom State government has inaugurated a task force to ensure the enforcement of the ban on scavenging and commercial motorcycle operation in the Uyo metropolis and capital city including open grazing and other sundry offences in the state.
The Senior Special Adviser to the State Governor on Security Matters and Special Services, Iniubong Ekong while briefing newsmen in Uyo, the State Capital said the inauguration of the task force was to ensure that government’s directives were obeyed to the latter for the safety and security of the people.
Ekong noted that the enforcement became necessary to beef up internal insecurity in the state, adding that from investigation most heinous crimes such as rape, burglary and stealing were perpetuated with the use of motorcycles.
