The National Universities Commission, NUC, has said nine illegal universities are currently undergoing investigation.
A circular signed by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Abubakar Rasheed revealed the identities of the nine universities currently under investigation.
The circular noted that the commission would also prosecute the proprietors and recover illegal charges and fees paid by subscribers to the programmes offered by the illegal institutions.
In 2021, the Executive Secretary of NUC had announced that the commission had so far closed down at least 67 illegal universities.
