NLC Backs Monthly Collection of Rent

The Nigeria Labor Congress, NLC, has endorsed the planned bill on monthly house rent in the Federal Capital Territory.

A statement issued by NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, said the bill was in line with the rent system in most parts of the world.

The statement noted that monthly rent provides for a maximum of three months advance rent payment in the first instance and subsequent monthly payment for the rest of any tenancy lease in the FCT.

It noted that it is insensitive to expect workers to pay on a yearly basis, when they are paid monthly.
