Senegalese Army says nine of its soldiers serving in a multinational peacekeeping force in Gambia have gone missing.
A statenment issued on Tuesday by the Army disclosed that two soldiers were also killed in the same battle with fighters believed to belong to the Movement of Democratic Forces of the Casamance, MDFC.
The statement noted that one rebel was killed and three captured during the fight.
It noted that the nine missing soldiers are probably held hostage by the MFDC, adding that operations are ongoing to find them and secure the zone.
