The House of Representatives has called on the Ministry of Women Affairs and the National Orientation Agency to sensitize citizens against female genital mutilation.
The resolutions followed the unanimous adoption of a motion moved by Ganiyu Johnson At plenary on Thursday,in Abuja to commemorate the 2022 International Day of Female Genital Mutilation,.
The House moved a motion on the need to eradicate the Practice of Female Genital Mutilation in Nigeria.
The lawmakers noted that the move was to drum support for the protection of the physical and mental health of women and girls.
