Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has declared that all operators of illegal revenue collection checkpoints in the State would be treated as armed robbers when apprehended.
Governor Ortom gave the warning on Monday in Makurdi, the State Capital while signing into law the amended Benue Internal Revenue Administration Law of the state.
He acknowledged the decline in revenue generation and the need to improve on all areas to be able to cater for the needs of the state.
The Governor noted that revenue collection in the state has been contracted to consultants, stressing that anyone caught operating illegally will be treated like a criminal.
