The United Nations human rights chief, Michelle Bachelet, has called for the release of at least 1,000 activists, opposition members and journalists detained on politically motivated charges in Belarus.
Bachelet said the government of President Alexander Lukashenko was carrying out violations of a widespread and systematic nature.
She revealed that 13,500 people had been arrested after the August 2020 election and protests.
Belarus’s diplomat Andrei Taranda, alleged that the report is filled with allegations and false accusations.
