Rivers State Government has said at least 9,000 persons living with tuberculosis are missing from communities in the state.
Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, Ndidi Utchay, stated this at an event to mark the 2022 World Tuberculosis Day, on Thursday, in Port Harcourt.
Utchay disclosed that 12,500 persons had been diagnosed with tuberculosis and treated in the last two years.
The permanent secretary noted that in 2021, over 800 persons were diagnosed and treated, adding that the state government’s target was to end the disease by 2030.
