The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, has appealed for a four-day ceasefire during the Orthodox Holy Week to allow for civilian evacuations and the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday in New York, Guterres noted that the Orthodox Easter which is coming amid an intensifying Russian offensive in Eastern Ukraine stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire.
The UN Chief urged all parties and all champions of peace around the world, to join in the Easter appeal.
