The Northern Elders Council, NEC, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure a fair, transparent and rancor free elections.
A statement signed by the President of the Council, Tanko Yakasai, warned Buhari-led administration to be wary of non-state actors in the corridors of power, who will stop at nothing to sabotage the electoral process for personal gain.
The statement cautioned Nigerians against falling for the traps of groups and political parties with ethnic agendas as well as those parading candidates with corruption blemishes on their identities.
It noted that the Council would be working with progressive forces to ensure that Nigerians did not make mistakes during the upcoming elections.
