The House of Representatives has harped on the need to put measures in place to protect children from harmful exposure to the internet.
The Chairman, House Committee on Justice, Olumide Osoba, stated this on Tuesday while declaring open a public hearing on the Bill for an Act to Provide for Enactment of Child Online Access Protection Bill 2023 and other Issues of Online Violence against Nigerian Child and other Related Matters.
He said, The safety and wellbeing of Nigerian children in this digital age should be their utmost priority, noting that efforts should be put in place to address the issue of online violence and protect our young ones from its harmful effects.
Osoba said the internet has undoubtedly revolutionized our society, connecting people from all walks of life and providing countless opportunities for learning, growth and entertainment.
According to him, not only highlights the threat to children’s safety owing to online violence but also aims to entrench measures to safeguard such incidents.
