Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union on Monday embarked on a nationwide strike which is due to alleged unfair treatment and disparity in the payment of salaries by the Federal Government.
Recall the union last week Monday, threatened to shut down hostels and power supply in universities across the country, if the Federal Government fails to meet its demands before Monday,March 18, 2024.
Speaking with news men during an interview, the National President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim, revealed his members, including Vice Chancellors, registrars, and bursars, have not been paid 2022 arrears.
Meanwhile, while reacting to the recent development, the Minister for Education, Tahir Mamman,announced that he was unaware of SSANU/NASU’s planned strike.
