The 53-year-old, who was previously an assistant to Peseiro, was unveiled as new handler of the three-time African champions this week.

Awoniyi is expected to be included in Super Eagles’ squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.
