As the nation celebrated Children’s Day yesterday, an Imo State University lecturer, Chigozirim Osuji, has decried the falling standard of education in the state and across Nigeria.
In an interactive session with Bizziboss newsteam, Osuji attributed the unfortunate decline to a combination of factors, including the role of the government, parents, and the children themselves.
Criticizing parents, the IMSU lecturer expressed concern over their desperation to push their children academically through exam malpractice and bribery of teachers, which she warned could have negative consequences for the nation’s future.
She condemned the government’s nonchalant attitude towards education, advising that enabling environments should be provided for the Nigerian child’s education.
Additionally, Osuji called on children to shift their focus from excessive phone usage to their studies, urging them to adopt a positive attitude towards learning to secure a better future.
