NAHCON cautions NLC against disrupting pilgrims

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has urged the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress not to disrupt the ongoing transit of Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage.
In a statement released on Monday from Abuja, the Assistant Director of Public Affairs at NAHCON, Fatima Usara, emphasized the need for the NLC and TUC to respect the sensitivity of this religious obligation and not to impede its movement.
Acknowledging the NLC’s concern over the welfare of its members, NAHCON has advised the labor union to apply caution and not to tamper with the Hajj conveyance, as a courtesy to the Muslim faith.
The commission has already conveyed 38,805 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia on 92 planes, out of the 65,500 Nigerians scheduled to make the pilgrimage in 2024.
Recall, that the Organised labour shut down all entry points at major international airports across the country to press home their demands for the implementation of a new national minimum wage.
