Yet-to-be identified gunmen opened fire at a security checkpoint on the Owerri-Okigwe road in Imo State on Tuesday morning.
According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants shot two police officers and another civilian inside a house at around 6:25 am in the Akabo area of Ikeduru Council Area, in Imo State.
Eyewitnesses reported that the unknown gunmen were driving roughly and shooting sporadically after killing the two officers at the checkpoint, whilst the civilian was targeted and shot inside his house.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, has yet to comment on the incident at the time of this report.
