The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has taken decisive action in response to the cholera outbreak sweeping across the nation, following the outbreak of that has claimed 53 lives across 31 states.
A dynamic risk assessment has placed the country at a very high risk of increased cholera transmission, causing the NCDC to establish and activate a National Cholera Emergency Operations Centre.
This move aims to coordinate the response to the outbreak, which has already resulted in 1,528 suspected cases as of June 24, 2024.
A statement by the NCDC through their X handle also emphasized a strong working relationship with states to contain the further spread of the disease and eventual eradicate it completely.
