Stakeholders seek stricter regulation for child sexual abuse

Stakeholders, including civil society organizations and anti-trafficking agencies, have urged the Nigerian government to prioritize the protection of children on social media.
They recommend implementing stringent regulations on social media platforms to combat the surge in online sexual abuse of children.
This call to action was made during the National Consultation on Sexual Exploitation of Children in Nigeria, organized by the Women’s Consortium of Nigeria.
The participants emphasized the need for comprehensive policies to safeguard young users from online exploitation while highlighting the urgent necessity for coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies, social services and educational campaigns to mitigate these risks.
