The Abia State Government has shifted it’s plans to restrict the operational hours of tricycles and motorcycles earlier slated for July 1, 2024.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu in a statement on Monday disclosed that the state government has postponed the enforcement of tricycle and motorcycle restrictions hours of 6am to 7pm to August 1, 2024.
According to Kanu, the adjustment was to accommodate the numerous pleas by the Abia people for more time to prepare for the effective implementation and enforcement of the policy.
The news was celebrated by Abians yesterday as they were seen exchanging banters of relief.
The state government, however, said that the enumeration and registration of all commercial vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles in the transport sector in Abia commenced on July 1, as scheduled.
