The community of Okoroiti in Eastern Obollo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, has expressed concerns over the lack of government presence and the detrimental effects of international oil companies’ activities.
During a Community Dialogue organized by Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF),on Tuesday, residents highlighted the absence of essential amenities like clean water, electricity, roads, and healthcare.
Bartholomew Araguja, a participant, noted the community’s struggles with accessing healthcare and the crippling of economic activities due to power outages, while youth unemployment remains high despite the presence of several oil companies.
