The ongoing bombing in Gaza on Thursday has led to a significant displacement of Palestinians, with many of the tens of thousands uprooted by the Israeli military invasion facing difficulties finding shelter.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) reports that many displaced individuals are turning back due to a lack of available spaces.
Although numerous refugees are taking shelter in UNRWA schools and government buildings, the conditions are dire, with waste piling up alongside roads and makeshift shelters, making living conditions “beyond unbearable.”
The UN estimates that 85,000 people have left the Shujayea district in the past week, and by Tuesday, an additional 66,700 had been displaced from eastern Khan Younis and Rafah in the south following new Israeli evacuation orders issued on Monday evening.
