Moscow authorities are offering a historic signing bonus to new recruits to fight in Ukraine, in an effort to bolster troop numbers.
Report says that the move is the latest indication of Russia’s struggle to recruit soldiers for its ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
According to the report by Moscow Mayor, on Wednesday, Sergey Sobyanin has now announced a one-time bonus of 1.9 million rubles (approximately $22,000) for city residents who enlist in the military.
Sobyanin in the announcement said the significant financial incentive aims to attract new recruits and support President Vladimir Putin’s military efforts.
