Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled drug syndicates and intercepted a substantial haul of narcotics, including 31.124 million pills of tramadol (225mg) and bottles of codeine-based syrup, with a combined street value exceeding N17.93 billion.
The seizures are reported to have occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and the Tincan seaport in Lagos.
According to a statement by the NDLEA, these seizures were made following intelligence on shipments originating from India.
This led to a request for a comprehensive joint examination of the watch-listed containers in collaboration with the Nigerian Customs Service and other security agencies.
