Kendrick Lamar is set to make history as the first rapper to solo headline the Super Bowl halftime show.
The National Football League, Roc Nation, and Apple Music announced on Sunday that the California-born rapper will headline the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, scheduled for February 9th in New Orleans.
Roc Nation’s founder, Jay-Z, praised Lamar, calling him “a once-in-a-generation artist and performer” whose influence on global culture goes beyond music. Jay-Z emphasized that Lamar’s impact will be felt for years to come.
Reacting to the announcement, Kendrick Lamar said he’s excited to remind the world of rap’s cultural significance.
The 17-time Grammy winner previously performed at the Super Bowl in 2022 during the event’s first-ever hip-hop showcase.
