The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has strongly criticized political leaders for the high level of corruption in the country, condemning what it described as the government’s insensitive economic policies, which have subjected Nigerians to severe hardship.
This position was outlined in a communiqué released to newsmen on Tuesday, signed by Gershinen Dajur, General Secretary of the Anglican Communion, following the Standing Committee’s meeting at St. Andrew’s Basilica, Nike, Enugu State.
The Church also addressed various issues, including the EndBadGovernance protest, the rise of xenophobia in Nigeria, and local government autonomy, while rejecting what it termed a piecemeal amendment of the military-imposed constitution.
