Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed optimism that the war with Russia could conclude sooner than anticipated, stating that the country is closer to peace than many think.
In an interview with journalists, Zelensky also revealed that the victory plan he will present to U.S. President Joe Biden this week requires Ukraine’s allies to “strengthen” its military capabilities.
He emphasized that the plan is not about negotiating with Russia, but rather serves as a bridge to a diplomatic solution to end the war.
He further stressed that Ukraine can only pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the conflict if Kyiv negotiates from a position of strength.
