The Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Council Worldwide has commended President Bola Tinubu’s decision to organize a national youth conference, describing it as a remarkable move.
This announcement was made during Tinubu’s 64th Independence Day broadcast, where he outlined plans for a 30-day conference aimed at amplifying the voices of young people and ensuring that their concerns are addressed by his administration.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the youth leaders, represented by their President General, Terry Obieh, Vice President Balarabe Rufai, and National Publicity Secretary Okwu Nnabuike, praised the president’s initiative as a clear demonstration of his commitment to the nation’s progress.
The group also recalled their earlier request for a national dialogue involving youths from various ethnic nationalities, expressing satisfaction that the president himself made the announcement while urging that the conference will not be politicized but executed in a way that ensures the desired outcomes are achieved.
As the country marks its Independence Anniversary, the youth leaders also urged citizens to maintain their faith in Nigeria, noting that while challenges remain, the nation has made steady progress since its return to democracy in 1999 as they commended the resilience of Nigerians and expressed confidence that the current administration is working towards securing a better future.
