Angry Rivers State citizens on Friday stormed the office of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) demanding the conduct of the October 5th local government elections in the state.
The protesters were said to have defied the heavy rainfall in the state, singing and drumming, with one side of the road blocked.
This comes after Governor Siminalayi Fubara stormed the RSIEC office at 1am on Friday, in a bid to stop the Rivers State Police Command from taking over the premises.
Tension is high in the state as the Rivers state police command has vowed to enforce court orders restricting the conduct of the local government and ward elections slated for Saturday.
